The Army Restaurant Programme (ARP) is a five year initiative designed to transform dining facilities across the UK’s Armed Forces, elevating them to contemporary hospitality standards while meeting the operational requirements of the MOD.
Spanning approximately 130 eateries across Land, Air and Sea, the programme marks a major step forward in modernising the daily experience of service personnel. This project is the first Army ARP scheme to be delivered through the MoD’s direct procurement framework and newly created product portfolio, completed after more than a year of planning, and now sets a clear benchmark for all future rollouts.
As a pilot site for the MOD, the refurbishment demonstrates how thoughtful design and high quality furniture can reimagine traditional mess halls into modern, welcoming environments that actively support wellbeing. The upgrade focused on enhancing both functionality and user experience through a comprehensive refresh of the furniture and layout.
Contemporary banquette seating was introduced to create a more sociable, space efficient arrangement, encouraging interaction while maximising capacity. A new family area featuring sofas and armchairs adds a relaxed, inclusive zone that better accommodates the diverse needs of personnel and their loved ones.
Durable new dining tables further elevate the space, delivering a clean, cohesive aesthetic that aligns with the programme’s interior standards. Every element was carefully selected to ensure consistency, longevity and a professional finish.
The result is a significantly enhanced dining environment; one that prioritises comfort, flexibility and overall wellbeing. As the first completed scheme within the ARP, it establishes an ambitious and inspiring standard for the modernisation projects that will follow.
